Kupang city is the capital of the province East Nusa Tenggara, perched in the southwestern part of Timor Island. Its favorable position in the south-eastern part of Indonesia has made it into the first port of entry in Indonesian waters from Australia, if not yet as a tourist destination in its own right. Kupang is a favorite city to enjoy nature, colorful wildlife within the island, the pleasant weather, and fascinating scenery. From Kupang, yachts can head directly to Rote, Suva, Sumba, Alor, Flores and the islands of Komodo National Park. Beyond the town, Kupang’s landscape mesmerizes with its rocky soils, spiky Palmyra palms, some fantastic coastlines, and central hills scattered with villages consisting of sharp cone-shaped thatched huts.
