Kelor Island is a tiny not-to-miss destination in Komodo National Park, located in front of the picturesque hills of Flores. After a short 15 minute hike, the panoramic view from the top towards Flores, Rinca island, and other smaller islands of Komodo Park, is simply breathtaking. One can often spot honeymooners and young couples eager for that Instagram-perfect shot atop of Kelor Island.
Other highlights of Kelor island include the two beautiful and tempting beaches, ideal for lazing around and snorkeling after the hike. Kelor island also allows snorkeling directly from the beach. Local boats usually line along the east coast, and children can be seen playing and snorkeling joyfully in the water along the west side of Kelor island. As everywhere in Komodo, Kelor’s underwater landscape is rich with marine life.

Kelor Island has no local population, boasting tranquility and untouched state, making it an ideal destination for landscape photographers. Mawan island
Mauwang (or Mawan) peaceful island is coated in grasslands, pinkish sand, and a soothing atmosphere. Visiting Mauwang after Kelor island doubles the experience. The water is calm and shallow, with plenty of beautiful corals and marine creatures to spot, including manta rays. Mawan island offers a comfortable place for trekking, with no steep hills but beautiful scenery. Just a short walk, same as on Kelor Island, and you’re at the pretty summit with the view of every photographer’s dream. It is a refreshing dip in the waters after a leisure trek, and you are ready to continue your Komodo National Park tour.
