Ao Leuk is well-known as one of the most beautiful places on Koh Tao. It is recognized for its deep and concave shape, and therefore, it is no wonder that its name means deep bay to the locals. Ao Leuk is one of the most famous snorkeling sites on Koh Tao. There is a coral reef on both sides of the bay, and it begins right off the beach. Ao Leuk Koh Tao is the top destination for many tourists due to many reasons, with one of them being its vast sandy seafloor. Thanks to its shallow water, tourists can simply relax while in the water and swimming can be very comfortable here. Besides, Ao Leuk has also attracted many divers and snorkelers alike, especially the beginners, as the shallow water makes it an ideal place for dive training.
The underwater world has never been more amazing when experienced at Ao Leuk Koh Tao due to the shallow water. Many kinds of marine creatures can be spotted when diving or snorkeling, making the experience all the more memorable. Twice a year, baby black-tip reef sharks can be seen in abundance at the shallows. Majestic adults are found about 400-500 meters off the north shore. Those who are more adventurous can opt to swim further to the southern side of the Ao Leuk, called Hin Ngham. There, snorkeling can be carried out peacefully thanks to the calm nature of the water, not to mention the beauty of the dive spot that awaits divers and snorkelers.
