Due to its strategic location on the southern part of Thailand and close to islands such as Koh Tao and Koh Samui, Koh Nang Yuan has since regarded as a top destination to visit on every traveler’s bucket list. Do not be fooled by the seemingly deserted and secluded nature of this tropical island as it is located fairly near to its neighboring islands. One can even swim from the nearest point of Koh Tao to Koh Nang Yuan, but it is definitely advised not to do so as the currents can be very strong. Ideal as a spot for day trips mostly, it can be expected that tourists flock to Koh Nang Yuan for day trips, contributing to the island being crowded most of the time. Having said that, the panoramic view of the island paired with its relaxing atmosphere is sure to entice tourists and nature lovers alike.
As Koh Nang Yuan is a private island, it ceases operations at 5 pm, and after that, the place is only accessible to tourists who stay overnight on the island. With only one resort on the island, many tourists opt to stay overnight to explore the island more thoroughly besides avoiding the crowds. Aside from the scenic beach, most tourists swear by the breathtaking panorama that awaits hikers on the island. The best adventure is to hike to the top of Koh Nang Yuan for the view that covers the entire island and neighboring Koh Tao, not to mention that the hike is pretty easy and fast, taking around 20 minutes to reach at most. The concrete path and the few stairs that lead to the top are pretty easy, even for the beginners. Things to take note when traveling to Koh Nang Yuan include that plastic water bottles are not allowed, and food is only available at the resort’s restaurant, which might come off as slightly pricey.
